SEB2 LabVIEW Driver

DriveTest provides code for National Instruments LabVIEW for use of SEB2 devices. This code comes as LabVIEW VIs in a Packed Library.

Internally, the VIs are based on the SEB2 .net DLL. The deployment system must be able to execute Microsoft .net assemblies.

    • new SEB2 libary, Stop measurement

This driver is meant to leverage streaming of force measurements with DriveTest SEB2 devices in customer LabVIEW applications.

The driver is not capable of permanently changing the configuration of SEB2 devices. For this purpose use the program DriveTest PinchPilot. SEB2 LabVIEW Driver assumes that the SEB2 device is correctly configured.

  • Does not need National Instruments NI-VISA driver. Serial communication is handled by .net Framework
  • Can run multiple instances in parallel
  • Provides SEB2 & Sensor Serial Number, Firmware version and Calibration Date
  • Measurement results include RMS and Peak values and a course of values
  • Measurement results are available after the measurement. Live data during the measurement is not available.

License enforcement has been removed with version 1.2.0. It is not required to use the License Installer.

Version 1.0.2

The driver requires a license to be used. This is enforced by an entitlement management system, which has to be installed on the target system. Plase download and run the following installer in order to use SEB2 LabVIEW Driver. After installation, activation is required, as described in the DriveTest Licensing Manual.

DriveTest License Installer v1.1

Theory of Operation

The driver follows the well known “open-work-close” approach. For the SEB2 driver, this is

  1. Connect to SEB2 device
  2. Start a single measurement
  3. Wait for SEB2 to complete measurement (Force Sensor must exceed threshold force and be released)
  4. Read Results from device after measurement has finished
  5. Close connection to SEB2 device

Please note:

  • Example VIs are contained in the download file
  • The driver does not offer live transfer of measurement data. The data is available after the measurement is over.
  • Starting the next measurement without closing the connection is possible
  • After opening the connection to SEB2, aborting the VI without calling can leave the port resource unavailable for subsequent measurements. A restart of LabVIEW can be required to release the serial port resource.
  • After SEB2 Power Up / Switch On, wait 3s for initialization sequence to have completeted (no more changes in display). After that, realiable connection to SEB2 device is possible.

SEB2 Settings

The SEB2 device can be configured with DriveTest PinchPilot.

Data Compression

In order to receive a course of values and not only Peak and RMS values of the measurement, “Memory Compression” must be enabled with the SEB2 device.

  1. Open PinchPilot
  2. Select menu Extras»Options»Sensorbox and set the correct COM Port
  3. Select menu Sensor»Configuration»Extended and set the check mark “Memory-Compression”
  4. Click button Write, then button Close
