K-Line Library

Overview

The DriveTest K-Line Library is a LabVIEW library which provides functionality to access Webasto K-Line transmission protocol. A DriveTest 0257 K-Line interface is needed. The library only works with 1-wire K-Line.

The library is in lvlip format (compiled LabVIEW library) and is optimized for use with National Instruments TestStand.

License

A license is required to use this library. Please contact DriveTest GmbH for more information.

System Requirements

  • DriveTest 0257 K-Line Interface COM port adaptor
  • The library only works with its respective Labview Version

Functionality

Default serial port configuration to work with Webasto K-Line protocol:

  • Baudrate: 38400
  • Data bits: 8
  • Parity: none
  • Stop bits: 1.0
  • Flow control: none

There are two different kinds of K-Line e-drives regarding their address space: 16 bit or 32 bit address space. The correct address space can be looked up in the e-drive specification and must be selected for initialization.

The following VI's can be used to read and write according to the Webasto K-Line Specification.

Compare PS.vi

Reads parameter set out of e-drive and compares it to a parameter set s-file. It is possible to compare only parts of the parameter set by selecting a first and last address.. If addresses are 0 the complete parameter set is compared. In case of mismatches its related addresses are collected. 16bit and 32bit e-drives are supported.

EEPROM bulk erase.vi

ONLY FOR USE IN DEVELOPMENT, NOT ALLOWED IN PRODUCTION!

Erases the EEPROM completely. Affected data: - Production data (if available) - Parameters - Profile data (if available) - Position data - Error memory (if available)

This telegram only is allowed if the e-drive is in parametrization mode (see “Start parametrization”). An answer is sent when the bulk erase command is executed. The response delay depends on the project or the used micro controller/EEPROM. Usually used values are:

internal EEPROM: 25ms external EEPROM: 50ms

Read data.vi

Reads EEPROM data beginning from a specific start address to a specific last address. If last address is 0 the EEPROM data is read until the end. of the address space. 16bit and 32bit e-drives are supported.

Start Parametrization.vi

Activates parametrization mode. All manual controls are blocked, EEPROM data surveillance is paused, execution of telegrams with full speed (without affecting the defined baud rate). In parametrization mode EEPROM data can be changed (see telegram “EEPROM bulk erase” and “write EEPROM block”). An answer telegram is only sent if the e-drive is ready for parametrization (e-drive stand still, not moving). Response delay: max. 50ms

Stop Parametrization.vi

Stops parametrization mode. All manual controls are functional again, EEPROM data surveillance is activated. If and when an answer telegram is send depends on the project. Waiting for an answer telegram is not necessary.

Write data.vi

Writes any data to the K-Line. A maximum data length can be set (check e-drive specification for maximum data length). The amount of data is split in blocks and then written to the e-drive. A start address can be set. 16bit and 32bit e-drives are supported.

Write EEPROM block.vi

Writes data to the internal or external EEPROM. The number of bytes must not exceed 12 if not specified otherwise.This telegram only is allowed if the e-drive is in parametrization mode (see “Start parametrization”). 16bit and 32bit e-drives are supported. The answer is immediately sent after the data is stored in the EEPROM. The maximum response delay can be calculated with the following formula:

T_delay = (T_EEPROM_delete_time + T_EEPROM_programming_time + 5ms) x n_bytes

The EEPROM delete and programming time depends on the microcontroller / EEPROM used in the project.
